"My Production this Quarter can be best described as a short 4-yard checkdown to the running back, to get the sure completion, as the pocket arounds me engulfs me."
Football Readers:
What I mean is that I felt I wasn't able to set my feet and find the time to be able to evade the pressure and hit my receiver 20 yards downfield for the big completion so I didn't take any risks and took the sure completion: 4-yard checkdown pass to the running back, which was positive.
Non-Football Readers:
I wasn't able to find the time to specifically work, annotate, and prepare as I would like to, but the quality of work I turned in, was positive. Similarly to a 4-yard checkdown pass to the running back which is positive, but not the ultimate goal.
Examples:
Blog Posts (20 Yard Passes)-
Football Readers:
This was the strength of my quarter, I was able to find the time back in the pocket to go through all my reads and progressions, to pump fake the safeties, set my feet, and throw a 20-yard bullet to a Go Route to my Go-to-Receiver aka Mrs.Youngblood.
Non-Football Readers:
I was able to complete, prepare, and proofread all my blog posts this quarter, I was able to fulfill all my wishes and find the time to accomplish these goals.
Monster Reflection Blog Post: This blog post is my personal favorite as I was able to include both textual evidence and creativity. For example: I included a personal involvement with the theme and prompt at hand, I was also able to install polls and unique pictures to both interest and spur involvement with the reader and my blog post.
Reading Discussions (10 Yard Loss)-
Football Readers:
I wasn't ready for the pressure, it was 3rd and long, I wasn't able to accomplish anything on first and second down, I didn't account for the extra rusher in the box nor to change the protection or route concepts. I realized after my first two downs, I needed to change up the plan, to release the ball quicker. I took the snap, looked at my hot read, which was a quick slant to my wideout; it was completely covered. It was a matter of time before the pressure caved in. On the Bright Side, the Punter was able to flip the field position.
Non-Football Readers:
Specifically centered around the Reading discussions, I felt that I brought in some good points, similarly to getting a good football play call in, but the results didn't match the plan.
I felt that my preparation was not up to par with that of my blog posts, for example, I brought in quality quotes and interpretations of the text, but I wasn't able to expand on the underlying principle like I wanted too. Like my football comparison, my first two discussions or "downs" were not executed properly, so I decided to change the plan for the discussion similarly to the third down play such as rather than finding all the unique quotes, I focused on one topic only and found the quotes corresponding to those topics. (Rather than looking at the entire field, I focused only on one side of the field)
The third discussion similarly to the third down play, I was able to gain positives, but ultimately didn't execute the plan like I wanted to.
1st Down: 15 yard Loss
2nd Down:10 yard Loss
3rd Down: 15 yard Gain
As a whole, I need and will do better on my reading discussions.
Sadly, this concludes my production assessment as a collection of 4-yard checkdowns (positive quality of work), 20-yard passes (blog posts), and 10 yard losses (reading discussions) correlates to a mediocre quarter of production.

Greatest Success: "In this Corner"
I alluded to it earlier, My greatest success this quarter has been the quality of my blog posts as seen in my Hyde vs. Hulk and Monsters Reflection. In this blog post, to creatively introduce my characters, rather than just stating their names and their descriptions colorlessly, I decided to mimic the one and only Eminem.. Eminem had a history similarly to these two men, so I took one of his famous lines from one of his songs that evoked an atmosphere of one of those famous boxing introductions: In this Corner.... So I creatively integrated this atmosphere into my character descriptions. |
Greatest Struggle: "Time Management and Old English" (Football Comparison) (GIF Link)
| I also alluded to this topic earlier, but my greatest struggle this quarter has been with my time management in terms of both my scout sheets and reading discussions. Both of these activities test one's ability to focus on details, underlying principles, and time management. Also, the old english of these texts brought some problems. NFL Defensive Disguises: Football Readers: Defensive Exotic and Disguise looks are one of the hardest defensive looks for the quarterback to read and play against, because the QB doesn't know what the defense is attempting to do. Non-Football Readers: Similarly, Old English is similar in terms that the terminology and structure of the sentences are different and harder to understand and realize what the writer is attempting to teach or inform the reader. This was probably one of my major struggles of this quarter. |
"Improvement and Consistency is the Key"
Improvement and Consistency-
Reading Discussions and Time Management-
Preparation: To improve in regards of Reading Discussions and Time Management, I need to change my study habits and my preparation for these events. For example: In my last preparation for my Scout Sheet and Reading Discussions, I was able to include all the textual evidence corresponding to the topic, and also bring in some in-depth comparisons such as the comparison between nature and Frankenstein's creation. On the bright side, I showed some improvement in my reading discussion as I was able to accomplish some of my plans going into my 3rd discussion. But, now it's time to show more improvement and consistency,
Improvement in Understanding Old English-
Practice and Repetition: To improve in regards of Understanding Old English, Practice is the ultimate key to understand this hard textual challenge. For example: If we have two weeks to read about 70 pages of a certain book, I can divide the workload into 5 pages a day, fully annotated and analyzed. This will help me in my overall preparation and interpretation of the texts at hand. After the Practice, Repetition is key.

Conclusion: I hoped that I was able to make my reflection both informative and entertaining, as I integrated both academics and athletics into one. (Sorry for the Non-Football People!)
